Abstract

Lingual Orthodontics is getting more popularity along with increasing demand of patients toward an invisible
treatment. Dirk Wiechmann, a German orthodontist, developed a customized lingual orthodontic device (IncognitoTM system) using CAD/CAM technology to meet the increasing demand of patients. Manufacturing process of IncognitoTM has been gradually developed to all digitized process including impression taking, set up modeling, bracket design, wire bending, transfer trays fabrication. Based on these digitized process IncognitoTM system ensures predictable outcome and provides individualized brackets and wires. According to a study which superimposed the therapeutic set-up casts and final treatment casts with a 3D scanner, final results of lingual orthodontic treatment by using individualized brackets
correlate satisfactorily with the therapeutic set-ups. The IncognitoTM bracket system's current optimization of both the brackets and orthodontic archwires enabled improved patient comfort, simplified - even direct - rebonding of the brackets, more accurate finishing, a lower bracket loss rate, less impact on speech and thus, a shorter adjustment period for the patient.
